A Humorous Guide to Life
Sometimes having a good laugh can be the most relaxing thing you do. With that in mind here is Relaxation Haven’s Humorous Guide to Life. Please feel free to add your own advice by leaving a comment.
Why worry about your job? You don’t get paid enough anyway.
Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
Never do today that which will become someone else’s responsibility tomorrow.
Good health is just the slowest possible rate at which you can die.
If you eat something, and no one else sees you eat it, it has no calories.
When you eat with someone else, the calories don’t count as long as you don’t eat more than they do.
If you think nobody cares whether you’ re alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. Then when you criticize them, you’ re a mile away and you have their shoes.
If you can’t relax you’re probably already too busy doing nothing.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
A friend in need is a pest.
If you tell the truth, you don’ t have to remember anything.
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.
If you’re going be late, then be late. You may as well make it a good hour and really enjoy your breakfast.
Some people are like slinkies… they’re not really good for anything, but you still can’t help but smile when you see one tumbling down the stairs.
Know your limitations and be content with them. Too much ambition can result in a promotion to a job you can’t do.
There are two theories to arguing with women, and neither one works.
Music Catch 2
Sometime ago I added a flash game called Music Catch to Relaxation Haven. Judging by my web traffic reports it’s been pretty popular. If you haven’t played it already you can do so by clicking the link below.
Well now there’s a sequel, imaginatively entitled Music Catch 2! It’s much the same as the original only there are now unlock able music tracks and you can customize the game more.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the soothing sounds of Music Catch 2.
The Stress of Multitasking
It’s fair to say that we live in a highly technological age. With computers, the internet, cell phones, MP3 players and so on we’ve never had so much access to information and entertainment. Sitting here right now as I type this I’m also listening to Elvis Presley. This is of course only a mild form of multitasking but when taken a little further multitasking isn’t the time saving talent that many believe it to be.
In the past I was someone who tended to try and do too much at once and it effected me negatively in a number of ways. The biggest problem is the lack of focus and attention you pay to any one individual task. This results in every job you’re doing being only half finished or completed well below your maximum ability.
Let me give you an example. Lets say that you’re at your computer working on balancing your finances. At the same time you’re texting a friend to ask them what they’re doing. You’re also updating your Facebook status. While you do that you’re listening to the news on the radio. On top of all that you have TV on keeping up with the latest football scores. Do you think with all that going on you’re going to be able to adequately sort out your finances? Absolutely not.
Not only can multitasking ruin your ability to focus but it causes an immense amount of stress, with this being Relaxation Haven we can’t allow that can we?
You’re demanding too much out of your brain and it responds by producing a constant flow of adrenaline as well as other stressful hormones to try and keep you as alert as possible. Sooner or later though it gets on top of you and you end up feeling run down and ill.
Taking The Stress Out of Multitasking
The best way to avoid all this stress is simply not to multitask. If we go back to my example above how many of those jobs needed to be done? Just one and that was the finances. Get that job done first and foremost before you even begin to think about other things. Since you are giving it your full attention you will do a better job and you’ll finish it quicker too. With that done then you can take the time to catch up with friends or the latest goings-on in the world.
Whenever you have a few jobs that need completing take a deep breath and ask yourself which job is most important – then do that first and put the rest to the back of your mind. Go down this mental list in order of importance until you have finished every job. This is a much more efficient way to work; you will find it actually saves you time.
By avoiding multitasking you will evade unnecessary stress and make more time for yourself to relax and unwind.
That is the ultimate win-win situation.
